Artist Statement

Déclaration artistique

This SciArt piece presents a captivating metaphorical representation of the relationship between the brain and mathematical computation. Our brain is the conductor of our souls, represented as the conductor of an orchestra in a mathematical concert hall. The darkness of the concert hall adds an element of uncomfortable anticipation, culminating in a mesmerizing symphony of our neural pathways as they flicker to compute the arithmetic operations. Our body sits on the conductor’s podium enjoying the breathtaking show procured by the numerically selective neurons on top of us without us realizing. 

The digital format allows for the incorporation of a VR headset that immerses our senses and enhances our understanding and appreciation of the brain. The viewer is transported into the concert hall and becomes a part of the conductor plugged in to the design. 

In this artwork, the combination of science and art brings to light the complexity and beauty of the brain's neural networks, inspiring wonder and awe. This artwork serves as a reminder of the importance of interdisciplinary exploration and how the integration of science and art can provide a deeper understanding of the human experience.

Cette pièce de SciArt présente une représentation métaphorique captivante de la relation entre le cerveau et le calcul mathématique. Notre cerveau est le chef d'orchestre de nos âmes, représenté comme le chef d'un orchestre dans une salle de concert mathématique. L'obscurité de la salle de concert ajoute un élément d'anticipation inconfortable, qui culmine dans une symphonie hypnotique de nos voies neuronales qui clignotent pour calculer les opérations arithmétiques. Notre corps est assis sur le podium du chef d'orchestre et profite du spectacle époustouflant offert par les neurones numériquement sélectifs qui se trouvent au-dessus de nous sans que nous nous en rendions compte. 

Le format numérique permet l'intégration d'un casque VR qui plonge nos sens et améliore notre compréhension et notre appréciation du cerveau. Le spectateur est transporté dans la salle de concert et devient un élément du chef d'orchestre branché sur le design. 

Dans cette œuvre d'art, la combinaison de la science et de l'art met en lumière la complexité et la beauté des réseaux neuronaux du cerveau, suscitant l'émerveillement et l'admiration. Cette œuvre rappelle l'importance de l'exploration interdisciplinaire et la façon dont l'intégration de la science et de l'art peut permettre de mieux comprendre l'expérience humaine.

Biographie

As a graduate student pursuing my master’s in Biochemistry at uOttawa, I am always curious and enthusiastic about developing my passion in multidisciplinary fields. Although my background in science may seem at odds with my interest in art, I believe that both disciplines share a lot in common. My Middle Eastern heritage have inspired me with the rich history and art of my culture. The exploration I undertook has led me to discover my love for 3D-design and 3D-printing, where I can combine technical precision with artistic vision to create pieces that maintain scientific accuracy along with emotional interpretation.
